The University Psychological Counseling Unit at Al-Kindy College of Medicine is dedicated to promoting students\u2019 psychological and social well-being on campus and providing supportive services that enhance positive adjustment and academic performance through evidence-based, professional guidance and awareness programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unit Objectives<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Unit aims to:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    Support students in facing psychological and academic challenges to strengthen psychological and social stability.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Develop students\u2019 decision-making skills, sense of responsibility, and balanced personal growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Prevent psychological and behavioral problems and promote positive behavior within the university environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Contribute to improved academic achievement by enhancing motivation and adaptive coping.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Unit Responsibilities<\/span><\/h4>\n

    The Unit provides psychological and educational counseling services at three levels:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Preventive: raising awareness and building skills for managing stress and challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Developmental: strengthening personal, social, and study skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Therapeutic: addressing cases in accordance with approved professional frameworks.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      It also:<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        Organizes individual and group counseling sessions as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Implements awareness programs, workshops, and counseling courses.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Manages special and urgent psychological cases in coordination with relevant entities within the College and the University.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Work Mechanisms<\/span><\/h4>\n

        The Unit operates through:<\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        • \n

          An advisory structure consisting of the Unit Head and liaison members from qualified academic staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Allocating students to counselors to ensure continuous follow-up and communication.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Holding periodic meetings to assess students\u2019 needs and set priorities for counseling interventions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Designing and delivering programs aligned with the university environment and students\u2019 needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Documenting activities and cases while strictly maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical and professional standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Unit Activities Completed for the Academic Year 2024\u20132025<\/span><\/h4>\n

          During the academic year 2024\u20132025, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit carried out a range of counseling and awareness activities, including:<\/span><\/p>\n

            (10) counseling courses<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            (9) scientific seminars<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            (5) workshops<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Dozens of awareness lectures<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Supportive activities and bazaars<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Designing and producing awareness brochures and posters aligned with the Unit\u2019s psychological and educational goals<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            These efforts contributed to enhancing psychological and educational awareness and supporting students\u2019 psychological and social stability across the College.<\/span><\/p>\n
