At Alkindy College of Medicine, the Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit teamed up with the Women\u2019s Affairs Unit to shed light on one of today\u2019s most pressing health threats: smoking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Led by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Marwa Ali Mohammed from the Pathology Department, the seminar explored the far-reaching dangers of smoking and its impact on our health, society, and economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Global Concerns: Did you know that the number of smokers worldwide keeps climbing every year? Or that smoking-related deaths are at an all-time high? These startling stats set the tone for the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the Short Term: Smoking can wreak havoc quickly, leading to heart disease, blocked arteries, strokes, and lung clots.<\/span><\/p>\n

Long-Term Dangers: Over time, the risks grow even graver, including higher chances of lung, throat, and bladder cancers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Economic and Social Toll: Beyond personal health, smoking places a heavy burden on families, communities, and healthcare systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar didn\u2019t just stop at raising awareness. It ended with a clear call to action:<\/span><\/p>\n

Launch targeted awareness campaigns to educate and inspire change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Display informative posters around campus to encourage students to kick the habit before it starts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Smoking isn\u2019t just a personal choice\u2014it\u2019s a public health crisis. By spreading knowledge and taking steps to fight this epidemic, we can build a healthier, stronger society for generations to come.<\/span><\/p>\n
