[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]At Al-Kindy College of Medicine, students are not only trained to heal people but also to heal the planet. One of them, Sarah Qais Mohammed, has done just that. The fourth-year medical student was recently honored by the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, for her groundbreaking research on turning university waste into low-cost, sustainable paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her project, titled \u201cTransforming University Waste into Low-Cost Paper: A Sustainable Approach,\u201d won the Best Scientific Research Award in the university\u2019s annual competition. The study presents a practical, cost-effective method to recycle waste paper within academic institutions<\/span><\/p>\n

During a special University Council meeting, Sarah was honored in the presence of Al-Kindy College of Medicine Dean, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shihab Al-Aidani, and deans from other colleges. Recognizing her achievement, Prof. Dr. Baha Ibrahim Ensaf addressed Sarah with words of appreciation:<\/span><\/p>\n

“We extend our deepest gratitude for your outstanding efforts. Your work is an inspiration to students and researchers alike. We wish you continued success in serving our beloved country and elevating our university\u2019s global standing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

For Sarah, this project is about more than just an academic challenge\u2014it\u2019s about making a real difference. \u201cAs future doctors, we care for human health, but we also need to care for the environment that sustains us,\u201d she shared. Her research not only reduces waste but also encourages sustainable practices within universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

At Alkindy College of Medicine l University of Baghdad continues to champion scientific innovation, encouraging students to tackle real-world problems through research. By supporting initiatives like Sarah\u2019s, the university strengthens its role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and paving the way for a more sustainable future.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
