[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]In a step toward elevating academic excellence, Al-Kindy College of Medicine \u2013 University of Baghdad brought together faculty members for a dynamic workshop titled “Designing Multiple-Choice and Short Essay Questions and How to Prepare a Blueprint.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Raghad Imad Al-Din Naji, the session highlighted how great assessments are the heart of great education.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recognizing that exams shape the way students learn, the workshop put a spotlight on the real art of assessment \u2014 designing questions that are fair, meaningful, and aligned with learning goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The session focused on two powerful tools: Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), known for checking broad knowledge, and Short Essay Questions, which dive deep into students’ understanding and critical thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Made This Workshop Stand Out?<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Raghad introduced participants to the Blueprint \u2014 a strategic tool that ensures exams are balanced, fair, and cover the entire course material thoroughly.<\/span><\/p>\n

She explained how careful planning of MCQs and essay questions can:<\/span><\/p>\n

Match questions directly to learning objectives,<\/span><\/p>\n

Balance difficulty levels,<\/span><\/p>\n

And maintain fairness across student evaluations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using clear and simple language when crafting questions was another key takeaway, avoiding tricky wording that could confuse students rather than test their knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n
