[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Believing that a successful physician is not only defined by medical knowledge and technical expertise but also by the ability to build trust and understanding with patients, Al-Kindy College of Medicine \u2013 University of Baghdad organized a distinguished workshop titled Communication Skills in Medical Education<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shihab Al-Aidani, Dean of the College, and Prof. Dr. Taghreed Khalil Al-Haidari, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, with enthusiastic participation from faculty members, teaching assistants, Family Medicine diploma students, and physicians working in primary healthcare centers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lectures were delivered by Dr. Abdulsalam Saleh Sultan and Prof. Dr. Jabbar Khamaat Hassan from the College of Fine Arts, founder of the \u201cTheatrical Clinic\u201d. The workshop addressed several key themes, including: methods of active listening, persuasion techniques, conducting effective patient interviews, managing stress during medical encounters, and handling challenging or emergency cases.<\/span><\/p>\n

A defining feature of the workshop was its dynamic blend of theory and practice. It incorporated interactive activities and simulation-based exercises, allowing participants to engage in role-play scenarios that mirrored real medical situations. These exercises encouraged participants to refine their use of body language, tone of voice, and non-verbal cues, ultimately strengthening their communication competence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Special focus was given to the Communication Skills Module, which the college integrated into its curriculum two years ago as a pioneering step in Iraqi medical education. This module is designed to prepare a new generation of physicians who combine strong scientific expertise with humanistic values \u2014 aligning with best international practices in medical training.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants expressed that such initiatives not only strengthen the competencies of students and young doctors but also directly improve healthcare quality and reinforce patient trust in the medical system, thereby enhancing the reputation of Iraqi healthcare institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

This workshop is part of a series of continuous development programs regularly organized by Al-Kindy College of Medicine in line with its strategic vision to train physicians who can meet global standards while serving their community with excellence. It also reflects the college\u2019s commitment to advancing key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
