[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The Continuing Education Unit at Al-Kindy College of Medicine \/ University of Baghdad organized a dialogue seminar titled \u201cThe Concept of Crisis and Its Management\u201d, delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abbas Owaid Alawi, attended by Asst. Dean for Scientific Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhannad Mundhir, and chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Khudair Hussein, as part of the College\u2019s ongoing efforts to strengthen administrative awareness and build professional capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar examined the concept of crisis as an exceptional situation that may disrupt institutional stability and performance, emphasizing that recognizing early indicators and differentiating crises from routine problems is a critical first step toward effective management.The speaker reviewed major crisis drivers, including organizational and administrative gaps, human factors, resource constraints, and communication breakdowns, as well as external influences that may escalate risks. The session also outlined the typical stages of crisis development\u2014from early signals to escalation, containment, recovery, and improvement\u2014highlighting the importance of preparedness and early intervention.In addition, the seminar presented essential crisis-management approaches such as identifying root causes, forming a crisis response team with clear responsibilities, prioritizing actions based on institutional impact, establishing effective communication channels, making informed decisions under pressure, monitoring implementation, and conducting post-crisis evaluation to strengthen resilience.<\/span><\/p>\n

A key focus was placed on effective leadership as a core factor in preventing crises and reducing their consequences, through transparency, accountability, and strengthening teamwork and readiness.
