History and Profile

The department of pharmacology was founded in 1998 with the establishment of the college. The aim of this department is to prepare medical students with strong base of scientific and recent medical information regarding the drugs. The department teaches undergraduate medical students the science that deals with the origin, nature, chemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics,  toxicological effects, and uses of drugs in addition to the medical research.

Vision

The vision of the Department of Pharmacology is:  “ highly qualified graduates in pharmacological knowledge.”

Mission

    The mission of the department is to provide instructions in pharmacology for the education and preparation of undergraduate and postgraduate medical and other health care professional students, leading to the rational effective and safe use of drug therapy with emphasis on lifelong learning.

The department also provide research activities directed at local problems related to drugs and poisons. It also tries to serve the community as consolatory body in drug issues and through other services such as therapeutic drug monitoring, and continuous medical education. The department also offers the scientific research movement through teaching staff researches and sharing researches with other institutions.

Objectives

  1. To provide the medical student with strong base of scientific and recent medical information regarding the drugs which will enable him to give proper medical prescription free from side effects.
  2. To provide the students with good ability and scientific skills for training and well qualification in this part of medical specification, and also good ability for scientific researches.
  3. To build a rigid updated pharmacological experience theoretically and practically.
  4. To adopt the best advanced education means like electronic teaching platforms.
