As a part of the weekly continuing education activities of the college and in cooperation with the Association of Family Medicine Doctors in Iraq a scientific symposium entitled “family medicine in Iraq Reality and Challenges” was held at the conference hall.
The Symposium headed by assistant prof. Dr. Taleb Saddam from the physiology department and assistant Prof. Dr. Lujane Al-Khazraji from department of community medicine in the college and the President of the association.
The first speaker was Dr. Kifah Hamid, advisory of family medicine at the health department in Al-Karkh who talk about the pack of health services provided by primary health care centers in Iraq.
Then Dr. Farhood Abbas, Consultant of Family Medicine in the Department of Health in Al-Rusafa presented a lecture on the skills and characteristics of the job description for a family doctor.
The last speakers was Dr. Nora Abdul Hussein, director of the unit of family medicine in the Department of Health in Baghdad Al- Karkh who Gave brief about the accreditation in the family health centers.
Then an open discussion was opened between the attendance of the activity and the lecturers that enriched the symposium and gave in-depth scientific and practical value.
The symposium attended by large number of the teaching staff, post graduate students as well as members from association of family medicine.
