Alkindy College of Medicine partnered with the College of Education for Women to host a breast cancer awareness workshop titled “The Importance and Methods of Early Breast Cancer Detection.”
Held at the College of Education for Women and sponsored by Dean Dr. Ithmar Shaker Majid Al-Shatari, the workshop was supervised by the Women’s Affairs Unit head, Dr. Shafaq Yousif Jaddo. Dr. Naba Aswad Shaker, a faculty member from Alkindy College of Medicine, led the session, attended by a group of faculty members and college staff.
The workshop emphasized the significance of early breast cancer screening, explained various examination methods, discussed mammogram procedures, and outlined the available types of mammograms. It also reviewed the American Cancer Society’s classifications of breast cancer risk levels.
The session saw active participation, with attendees sharing insights and real-life stories related to the topic. Key recommendations included the importance of regular screenings, initiating checks from age 30 for those with genetic predispositions, and promoting community awareness through educational workshops to help prevent breast cancer.
