History and profile

The Department of Pathology was established with the establishment of the college as one of the basic science branches to study the basic and systemic pathology for students of the third and fourth stages, and with establishment of the integrated curriculum the department start to  teach the pathology for the second and third stages, as well as forensic medicine for the fourth stage, this includes giving theoretical lectures, seminars and tutorial by implementation of small groups and give a greater role to the student in the process of education. The staff of the pathology department also participate in the routine work of the pathology section in the laboratory of Al-kindy teaching hospital

Message

To teach the fundamentals of pathology and forensic medicine in their different vocabulary in order to prepare a student who has the ability to connect the various clinical aspects of the disease with what has been studied in pathology, as well as to identify the various forensic sciences and their importance in serving the society and help the judiciary in solving various medical cases of medical nature. Enough to deal with the situations they face during their working lives

Contribute to the development of students’ mental and practical skills by following the latest methods of theoretical, practical and clinical academic education, and how to apply this information in the working life.

Promote applied scientific research through cooperation with various scientific and clinical branches to promote medical education services and the healthy environment of the community

Objectives

The Department of Pathology aims to develop a distinguished physician in their fields of specialization and are able to raise the level of medical performance in health fields to a level comparable to that of developed countries by contributing to the training and education of a distinguished generation professionally and scientifically, with the ability to continuously develop and keep abreast of all scientific innovations.

The department also works to enhance cooperation between the scientific and health service in the health institutions.

The department participates in the teaching activities of the following modules: Basic pathology, Hemopoitic system, Respiratory system, Cardiovascular system, Musculoskeletal system, Digestive and hepatobiliary system, Nervous System & Special senses, endocrine system, Integumentary system, Urinary system and Reproductive system which cover the basic and systemic pathology as well as forensic medicine.

The members of the department were among the first teaching staff in the college who start participate in the e learning through using the moodle and google suit for education even before the COVID -19 era which enable them to switch to the e- learning after the lockdown after the epidemic of COVID 19 by sharing the theoretical and practical material using the PDF, power point and videos files with students and interactive lectures using Zoom and google Meet.
