The Volunteer Medical Education Team at the University of Baghdad’s Alkindy College of Medicine recently spearheaded a successful online workshop focused on research opportunities and the art of writing medical research papers. The Zoom-based sessions, titled “Research Opportunities for Medical Students and How to Write a Scientific Medical Research Paper,” offered valuable insights for aspiring researchers within the medical field.
The workshop, attracting roughly 130 attendees, aimed to familiarize medical students with the wide range of research opportunities available to them. Additionally, it provided guidance on the essential skills needed to produce high-quality, professional medical research papers.
Key speakers during the two-and-a-half-hour workshop included Fatima Kazem Kanoos, Head of the Volunteer Medical Education Team, distinguished sixth-year student Mohammed Diaa Mursul, and team member Hussein Abdullah Abdul Amir. Topics covered included an overview of research possibilities, tips for publishing and engaging in research, and a detailed breakdown of the medical research paper writing process.
The workshop was met with positive responses from student attendees, who found the sessions both informative and well-organized. This initiative aligns with Alkindy College of Medicine’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture among its students. The Volunteer Medical Education Team plays a crucial role in supporting this goal through workshops and other educational activities.
