The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at Al-Kindy College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, delivered an awareness lecture for first-year students presented by Asst. Lecturer Dr. Mohammed Abdul Amir, aimed at strengthening effective communication skills across campus.
Titled “Effective Communication Skills on Campus,” the lecture introduced communication as the ability to share ideas, feelings, and information with clarity and respect, helping students build mutual understanding—both among peers and with faculty members—while creating a more positive and supportive learning environment.
The session highlighted how strong communication skills help students:
-
build positive relationships with classmates and teaching staff,
-
gain confidence in expressing ideas and opinions,
-
support teamwork and engagement in student activities, and
-
improve academic performance through constructive university interaction.
The lecture emphasized that effective communication is a core foundation for students’ academic and psychological success, especially during the first year, which represents a major transition in educational and social life at university.
