The Human Rights Unit at Al-Kindy College of Medicine / University of Baghdad organized an awareness lecture for students on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen human-rights awareness and promote respect for human dignity across the university community.
he lecture highlighted key UDHR principles, including protecting human dignity without discrimination, equality before the law, and the rights to education, health, and work—foundations that support fair and humane practices in society.It also addressed the right to freedom and personal security, as well as protections for freedom of opinion and expression and civic participation. Special emphasis was placed on the role of medical students in promoting human-rights values within healthcare settings.The session underscored the importance of patients’ rights and delivering healthcare services grounded in equality, dignity, and humanity, aligned with medical ethics and social responsibility.
