Al-Kindy College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, hosted an awareness seminar delivered by expert Mr. Fares Khalid Ahmed, a member of the National Initiative for Energy Support and Emissions Reduction, highlighting the initiative’s goals and the importance of energy conservation and reducing environmentally harmful emissions. The seminar was attended by Dean Prof. Mohammed Shihab Al-Aidani, the Assistant Deans for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, and a number of faculty and staff members.

The speaker introduced the National Initiative, its members, and the governmental entities collaborating with it, outlining its pathways to promote energy efficiency and expand the adoption of cleaner alternatives as part of national environmental protection efforts.

The seminar emphasized the importance of reducing energy consumption and adopting alternative solutions, with a focus on clean energy sources and decreasing reliance on conventional energy, contributing to lower emissions and improved air quality.

It also addressed key issues related to agriculture, soil, and water, including conservation and responsible use, and discussed how air emissions and pollutant gases contribute to global warming and broader climate change impacts.

The session concluded with active engagement from attendees, who shared practical ideas and proposals to conserve energy and reduce atmospheric and thermal emissions—supporting national efforts toward environmental protection and sustainable development.
