Al-Kindy College of Medicine is proud to announce that third-year student Noor Al-Huda Ismail Fadel received the Silver Shield at the 2025 National Research Competition on Competition and Anti-Monopoly for her paper:

“An Analysis of Monopoly’s Effect on Iraqi Consumer Health and the Standard of Dietary Supplements and Health Foods.”

The results were announced during an official conference under the patronage of the Prime Minister, in the presence of leading economic and medical figures, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shihab Al-Aidani, Dean of Al-Kindy College of Medicine. Winning papers will be included in the National Research Encyclopedia—a mark of national relevance and scholarly merit.

The competition received 35 submissions from Iraqi universities; 29 papers were accepted after a rigorous assessment based on originality, methodology, and scientific quality. Noor Al-Huda’s award affirms the quality and originality of her work and its timely contribution to public health and market oversight.

The study examines how market monopoly can affect consumer health through access, quality, and safety of dietary supplements and health foods. It highlights the importance of clear standards, consistent regulation, and evidence-based guidance—issues that matter to clinicians, policymakers, and Iraqi families alike.

This achievement reflects Al-Kindy’s ongoing commitment to:

Applied scientific research aligned with national health priorities

Developing students’ critical analysis and academic innovation

Fostering interdisciplinary research that bridges medicine, public health, policy, and economics.
