The Human Rights Unit at Alkindy College of Medicine – University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Agricultural Unit of the Services Division, organized a tree planting campaign on March 12 to commemorate National Tree Planting Day, responding to the Iraqi Cabinet’s directives and supporting the national initiative to plant five million trees and palms across Iraq.
Under the patronage and active participation of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shihab Al-Eidani, Dean of the College, alongside his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, the campaign brought together faculty members, staff, and students in a unified effort to promote environmental awareness and cultivate a culture of sustainability within the university campus.
Campaign Activities:
  •  Planting tree seedlings throughout college gardens and surrounding areas
  •  Expanding green spaces to enhance the campus environment
  •  Raising awareness about climate action and environmental protection
The initiative reinforces the college’s commitment to urban beautification and climate improvement, creating a healthier, more vibrant academic atmosphere while instilling values of volunteerism and social responsibility among students and staff.
This environmental effort aligns with Iraq’s national strategy to combat climate change and protect natural resources for future generations.
